Solo on Snowdon

A winter traverse of Crib Goch and Crib Y Ddysgl is a magnificent outing in any weather but to undertake it in sunshine is a rare and wonderful treat. On this morning I had walked up from Pen Y Pass under a clear sky, full of hope and excitement for sunrise. As I reached the top of the East Ridge of Crib Goch clouds rolled in from the East, blocking the sunrise and I resigned myself to a an enjoyable traverse but without photographs. As I reached the pinnacles the light burst free of the cloud and I enjoyed an hour or so of some of the most magical conditions I could have wished for.

This shot was taken on my drone and I love the sense of scale you get from the lone walker on Crib Y Ddysgl with Snowdon in a sea of cloud behind.
