Pontcysyllte Aqueduct Aerial Filming

I have been at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, aerial filming for a production company this morning. The aqueduct was undertaken by Thomas Telford, with the first stone being laid in 1795. It is over 1000ft long and 126 ft high and makes a dramatic sight from any angle as a barge goes across. My job was to film from the air and the pressure was on – the barge that had been hired was only going to make one trip in each direction and the director had a few different shots in mind. All went well and I hope those original engineers would have admired the finished footage. Having finished at the aqueduct we then headed to Moel Famau where we were defeated in getting summit shots by persistent low cloud, we did however manage to get some lovely tracking shots of our models walking, as well as some nice general views.
