Mountain Training UK

Mountain Training are the awarding body for personal skills and qualifications in walking, climbing and mountaineering and have been established for more than 50 years.

In this film we explore the ethos of MTUK so that they can portray this to the providers of their courses and to the many stakeholders that they work with. The film meets the holders of different awards and looks at what the qualifications do for them and the people that they work with. We travel the lowland and mountain regions of the UK, in summer and winter and learn more about the lives behind the awards.

We have worked with MTUK for several years now, using the power of stories to expand the reach of the organisation and infomercials to educate their customer base.

Testimonial

“Filmuphigh are excellent filmmakers who love telling a good story through film. We’ve been really happy with all of the work they’ve done for us so far and we’ll continue to call on their expert services in the future. They always take the time to understand what we want and are very easy to work with. They’re also highly competent mountain people whose knowledge of the mountains combines with a passion for detail to produce some outstanding shots.”

Indoor Climbing

For this film we visited Manchester Climbing Centre and Harrow Wall to showcase indoor climbing and inspire people to get involved.

It was unusual to be filming indoors in city locations and I really enjoyed the challenges that it provided. There wasn’t a lot of scope for the drone to be used in this one!

Mountain Skills & Hill Skills

Traditionally MTUK have provided qualifications for the outdoor industry. The launch of the mountain skills and hill skills courses saw a departure from this to personal skills courses that did not contain a leadership element. We were asked to make films for each scheme to educate and inspire the viewer.

MTUK Short Stories

For this series of short films we took the stories that we told in the Ethos Film and divided them into short films that were ideal for social media use.
